Central Saint Martins BA Graduate Show 2009

Attending the Central St Martins Graduate Show was always going to be a treat. With 40 collections from the Womenswear, Menswear, Fashion Print, Fashion Design with Marketing and Fashion Knit courses, there was a wide range of talent on show. St Martins pedigree and reputation means the bar is set very high for the students. Each designer showed about five outfits, with their own music and presentation style to accompany.

With every new collection, it was exciting to think we were getting a fleeting glimpse of the next big designer. Here is a selection of the best of the night:

Jin Hee Kim – Fashion Print:

John Booth – Fashion Print
:

Holly Fox-Lee – Fashion Print
:

Philip Preiswerk – Fashion Design with Marketing
:

Phoebe English – Fashion Knit:

Ara Jo – Womenswear:

Sponsors, L’Oreal Professionnel awarded prizes. Runner-up awards went to Dean Quinn – womenswear (below) and Luke Brooks – fashion knit (below with model.)

The overall winner was Marie Hill – womenswear, who triumphed with her futuristic bandeau dresses.

With alumni Peter Jensen and Mark Fast presenting the awards, they were a brilliant indication of where the students from this graduate show could be in the near future.

“CSM Fashion BA once again put on a show that displayed the vast range of talent from over 40 forward thinking students, many of whom seem to be kicking off recession blues with power dressing responses., very impressed with the quality of design and especially Maria Hills work.
